Crystal Pepsi is Back, But There’s a Catch

Crystal Pepsi  (PEP) is making a comeback just in time for the holiday season, but there is a catch.

The popular clear cola will return for a limited time as part of a sweepstakes run through Pepsi’s Pepsi Pass, the company’s loyalty program app.

Fans of the short-lived ’90s drink can win one of 13,000 six-packs of the beverage by entering via the mobile app or online at between Dec. 10 and 11.

Winners will be selected during the following week and the bottles of Crystal Pepsi are slated to ship just in time for Christmas.

Pepsi first hinted at the return of the cult-favorite beverage on Twitter in June.

Last week Pepsi posted several Crystal Pepsi teasers on its Twitter and Instagram pages ahead of the official announcement on Tuesday.

Fans of Crystal Pepsi took to Twitter to comment on the drink’s return. Although, not all of them were pleased with how the beverage was re-entering the market.

This isn’t the first time that Pepsi has gone into their beverage archives and brought back a fan favorite. The company released a limited run of Pepsi Perfect in October in honor of “Back the the Future” Day.

Competitor Coca-Cola  (COKE) also doubled-down on the nostalgia market. In September the company brought back Surge, a popular citrus-flavored soda. Coke filed a trademark patent in September for Hi-C Ecto Cooler, an orange-tangerine flavored drink inspired by “Ghostbusters”, which was approved in November.
